Last Week:  To consistently live the life of a hero one must stay focused on JESUS (The Hero)

Jesus overcame the world so with Jesus we can be overcomers.

I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth, you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world. John 16:33

It’s natural to want God but not natural to trust God.

Have mercy on us and help us, if you can.”

“What do you mean, ‘If I can’?” Jesus asked. “Anything is possible if a person believes.”

The father instantly cried out, “I do believe, but help me overcome my unbelief!” Mark 9:22-24

The answer to emotional paralysis is a spiritual one.

Overcoming What Keeps Us Paralyzed

  • People get in the way.  Get others to help.

And the Lord’s healing power was strongly with Jesus.  Luke 5:17

Some men came carrying a paralyzed man on a sleeping mat. They tried to take him inside to Jesus, Luke 5:18

but they couldn’t reach him because of the crowd. So they went up to the roof and took off some tiles. Then they lowered the sick man on his mat down into the crowd, right in front of Jesus. Luke 5:19

  • It’s often seems easier not to try and change.

Seeing their faith, Jesus said to the man, “Young man, your sins are forgiven.” Luke 5:20

All problems are spiritual issues.  It’s not really about the circumstances.  It’s about the attitude of the heart.

We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are.  Rom 3:22

Instantly – Completely – Freely

Let Jesus give you peace.

Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.  1 Pet 5:7

It’s our job to help.

Dear brothers and sisters, if another believer is overcome by some sin, you who are godly should gently and humbly help that person back onto the right path. And be careful not to fall into the same temptation yourself.  Gal 6:1

  • Jesus will do God things in your life.

And immediately, as everyone watched, the man jumped up, picked up his mat, and went home praising God.  Luke 5:25

  • God’s work in your life will influence others toward Jesus.

Everyone was gripped with great wonder and awe, and they praised God, exclaiming, “We have seen amazing things today! Luke 5:26
