Health insurer Cigna’s 2018 U.S. Loneliness Index found that 46 percent of Americans report feeling lonely sometimes or always, and 47 percent report feeling left out sometimes or always. A little less, 43 percent, report feeling isolated from others, and the same number report feeling they lack companionship and their relationships lack meaning.

We were created to be social beings.  We are healthier mentally, physically and spiritually when we have people who are close in our lives.

Then the Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. Gen 2:18

Elizabeth Jackson, in her last conversation with her son and future President Andrew Jackson said, “If I should not see you again, I wish you to remember, “in this world you will have to make your own way.  To do that you must have friends.”

Friends are so important.  And it’s important to have the right kind of friends.

“bad company corrupts good character.”  1 Cor 15:33

It is so important for Christians to have people in their lives who will encourage them to do the things God wants us to do.

Studies show that friends make us happier and help us live longer.  So, make some close friends who will help you be a better and healthier person.

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you for loving me so I may love others well.  I will be an encourager to my friends and I pray for friends who will encourage me.

In Jesus Name Amen and Amen
