Don’t love money; be satisfied with what you have. For God has said,
“I will never fail you. I will never abandon you.” Heb 13:5

Warning to the rich

Look here, you rich people: Weep and groan with anguish because of all the terrible troubles ahead of you. 2 Your wealth is rotting away, and your fine clothes are moth-eaten rags. 3 Your gold and silver are corroded. The very wealth you were counting on will eat away your flesh like fire. This corroded treasure you have hoarded will testify against you on the day of judgment. James 5:1-3

You have spent your years on earth in luxury, satisfying your every desire. You have fattened yourselves for the day of slaughter. James 5:5

If you love money more than God, you might also love money more than people.

For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. And some people, craving money, have wandered from the true faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows. 1 Tim 6:10

The Effects of Choosing Money Over God

1) Tend to worry about future.
2) It will give you a false sense of security.
3) You will always have the world view of more is better.
4) It adds to daily stress and harmful to your physical and spiritual health.
5) If you love money you can’t love God.

How To Resist The Love of Money

1) Live like everything belongs to God.

When someone has been given much, much will be required in return; and when someone has been entrusted with much, even more will be required. Luke 12:48b

It is easy to be confused and think we are giving God something that belongs to us.

2) Trust that God is generous and gives you great value.

Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are? Matt 6:26

3) Use God’s resources with God Wisdom and for God’s
purpose.

Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal. 21 Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be. Matt 6:20-21

4) Turn to God for stress relief.

Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. Matt 6:33
