Many people make a serious turn toward God in the midst of pain. I have found over the years that pain is a powerful yet short-lived spiritual motivator. People turn to God when they are desperate. Then when life gets better or more tolerable, they turn away or lower their commitment level.
I talk to people all the time who are disappointed in their lack of spiritual maturity. When you have a mature faith, the trials of life are less painful and become opportunities for spiritual growth. Unfortunately, maturity does not automatically come with age. A mature faith is developed by a life committed to being obedient to God’s Word. There are so many blessings and promises God keeps when we are faithful.
I just finished teaching a seven week series on the basics of the Christian faith. Click here to see all seven messages (Explore God – The Seven Big Questions) How do you follow up a beginner course in Christianity? With a series that teaches how to take faith to the next level. The best teacher for that topic is the Apostle James.
The theme of the book of James is found in these two verses;
For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. 4 So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing. James 1:3-4
I have wanted to teach through James since we started LCC. It is such an amazing and practical lesson on living out the Cristian faith. It is only five chapters. You can read it in fifteen minutes, and you can read it over and over again and continue to get so much life application nourishment from the Words of Jesus’ half-brother James.
My new teaching series, Next Level Faith – The Book of James, begins this Sunday. I hope you will be there, and bring a friend.
It is the first Sunday of the month and we will have communion in both services.
On November 8, we will be having an LCC Family meeting for one hour from 5:00-6:00pm. We have added a time of worship to this meeting as many of you have requested.
We will be providing child care. If you need child care please reply to this email or sign up this Sunday morning.
We will have a short family meeting including an update on the raising of funds for our new building and vision for the coming year.
If you are part of the LCC family this is an important meeting to attend.
Thanks so much.
May God Bless you more than you could ever imagine.
