Luke 8:22-25

Review: The Greek word for miracle is sign and miracles are for the purpose of pointing people to God.

Real courage is being trust-full, not fear-less.

LEAP – Listen – Engage – Apply – Produce

But Jesus spoke to them at once. “Don’t be afraid,” he said. “Take courage. I am here!” Matt 14:27

Be courageous. Troubles are a part of life.

But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid. Matt 14:27 KJV

Make troubles a good part of your life.  Embrace them. Don’t deny them.

Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. James 1:2

For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. 4 So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing. James 1:3-4

  • Troubles will happen
  • Troubles will come unexpectedly
  • Troubles are necessary for spiritual growth.

How To Make The Most Of The Storms Of Life

1) Let Jesus guide you. It takes faith to follow.

One day Jesus said to his disciples, “Let’s cross to the other side of the lake.” So they got into a boat and started out. Luke 8:22

2) Jesus will take you into storms.

As they sailed across, Jesus settled down for a nap. But soon a fierce storm came down on the lake. The boat was filling with water, and they were in real danger. Luke 8:23

3) Stay connected to Jesus or anxiety, darkness and panic will rule. (The devil will lie to you)

The disciples went and woke him up, shouting, “Master, Master, we’re going to drown!” Luke 8:24a

4) Connecting to Jesus will calm the storm.

When Jesus woke up, he rebuked the wind and the raging waves. Suddenly the storm stopped and all was calm.  Luke 8:24b

5) Active faith will allow you to witness God’s power and amaze you.

Then he asked them, “Where is your faith?”  The disciples were terrified and amazed. “Who is this man?” they asked each other. “When he gives a command, even the wind and waves obey him!” Luke 8:25

Warning: The effect of miracles will wear off. It is important to focus on God and not the miracles.
