13 Suddenly, the angel was joined by a vast host of others—the armies of heaven—praising God and saying, 14 “Glory to God in highest heaven, and peace on earth to those with whom God is pleased.” Luke 2:13-14
Jesus made inner peace possible.
Peace is a gift for those who receive through faith.
And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him. Heb 11:6
Our anxiety is in the dark, the unknown. Light clears things up, brings peace.
I have come as a light to shine in this dark world, so that all who put their trust in me will no longer remain in the dark. John 12:46
The Feeling of Darkness
Anxiety … Depression … Doubt … Powerless … Low Self-esteem … Lack of purpose …
Jesus replied, “My light will shine for you just a little longer. Walk in the light while you can, so the darkness will not overtake you. Those who walk in the darkness cannot see where they are going. John 12:35
1 O Lord, how long will you forget me? Forever? How long will you look the other way? 2 How long must I struggle with anguish in my soul, with sorrow in my heart every day?
How long will my enemy have the uper hand? Ps 13:1-2
The Promise, the Gift of Light
Many Christians choose not to live in the light.
1) Jesus makes you complete. (Shalom)
“I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid. John 14:27
2) Jesus encourages us in all situations.
I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is with a full stomach or empty, with plenty or little. 13 For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength. Phil 4:12-13
Even when I walk through the darkest valley,I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me. Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me. Ps 23:4
3) Jesus guides me the right way.
For this light within you produces only what is good and right and true. Eph 5:9
4) Jesus gives me purpose and makes life satisfying.
The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life. John 10:10
As we are to give love, joy and hope we are to be Peacemakers
17 But the wisdom from above is first of all pure. It is also peace loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. It is full of mercy and good deeds. It shows no favoritism and is always sincere. 18 And those who are peacemakers will plant seeds of peace and reap a harvest of righteousness. James 3:17-18
