Thanksgiving:  the act of giving thanks, a public celebration in acknowledgement of divine favor.

In order to live a life of joy one must take the action or thought of thanksgiving and make it an attitude, or lifestyle.

An attitude of thanksgiving has power over …

  • Fear
  • Depression
  • Anger
  • Loneliness
  • Selfishness
  • Temptation
  • Discouragement
  • Negativity

An attitude of thanksgiving is not natural …

Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus. 1 Thes 5:18

It is a choice that you have to make over and over as a discipline until it becomes more second nature.

You have to look at each situation … and choose.

Choose to complain or be thankful.

We have a biblical calling to be thankful.

Make thankfulness your sacrifice to God, and keep the vows you made to the Most High. Ps 50:14

___________ can be thankful for all that God has done for me.

And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him. Rom 12:1

The closer you are to God the more thankful you will be.

Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness. Col 2:7

You can’t worship without being thankful.

If we gratefully acknowledge what we have we shall be in better heart for obtaining that which as yet we have not received.  Charles Spurgeon

An attitude of thanksgiving sets you up to be more thankful.

Most Thankful for New Life

1)    Forgiven for my past.

2)    I can live a worry free life because God has “the plan”.

3)   I have a purpose in life that is more than I could ever have hoped for.

4)   I never have to worry about “not being loved”.

His unchanging plan has always been to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. And this gave him great pleasure. Eph 1:5 NLT
