Dear Friends and Family of LCC,
I hope you are enjoying the rain …. Thank you God for the blessing. It smells good, feels good, and the sound of rain on the roof is comforting.
I have a question for you? On a scale of 1 – 5, five being best and one being worst, how would you rate yourself on contentment.. Are you content?
Feeling content is a sign of spiritual maturity. Lack of contentment tempts one to lust, to want for what one doesn’t have or worse for what others have.
The apostle Paul wrote to his student Timothy, “…true godliness with contentment is itself great wealth.” 1 Tim 6:6 The kind of contentment Paul is writing about has nothing to do with one’s situation and everything to do with the condition of one’s heart.
No possession or achievement can bring real contentment. The love of God for us and our love for him is the only way to be content.
Paul wrote: “11 Not that I was ever in need, for I have learned how to be content with whatever I have.12 I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is with a full stomach or empty, with plenty or little.13 For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.” Phil 4:11-13
This Sunday in Part Three of “The Ultimate Controlled Life” I will be dealing with the topic of being content. The ultimate controlled life is a life of contentment.
Please join us on Sunday. The apostle Paul’s words are so encouraging. We live in a world that believes that more brings happiness. That is part of our default human nature. We can learn, and we are empowered to do it God’s way. God says we can be content with whatever we have or wherever we are. Joy comes with contentment.
You may have a friend that needs to hear it.
