Dear Me: I am not God. It is above my pay grade to make the decisions that only God can make. And it is ridiculous when I think I can.
Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me. John 14:6
Don’t you believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words I speak are not my own, but my Father who lives in me does his work through me. 11 Just believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me. Or at least believe because of the work you have seen me do. John 14:10
Jesus and the Father are one
God’s people were told that Jesus is coming.
All right then, the Lord himself will give you the sign. Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son and will call him Immanuel (which means ‘God is with us’). Isaiah 7:14
Isaiah 9:6, Micha 5:2, Zech 9:9, Ps 22:16-18, Isaiah 53:3-7
Remember this following verse …. What is Paul upset about?
Oh, what a miserable person I am! Who will free me from this life… Romans 7:24
Paul loves God with all his heart …..
With Christ as my witness, I speak with utter truthfulness. My conscience and the Holy Spirit confirm it. 2 My heart is filled with bitter sorrow and unending grief Rom 9:1-2
Why is Paul so upset now? Paul loves people with all his heart.
21 Here is my greeting in my own handwriting—Paul. If anyone does not love the Lord, that person is cursed. 1 Cor 16:21-22
He knows what happens to those who reject Christ. His own people, who should know better, have rejected Christ.
3 for my people, my Jewish brothers and sisters. I would be willing to be forever cursed—cut off from Christ!—if that would save them. 4 They are the people of Israel, chosen to be God’s adopted children. God revealed his glory to them. He made covenants with them and gave them his law. He gave them the privilege of worshiping him and receiving his wonderful promises. 5 Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob are their ancestors, and Christ himself was an Israelite as far as his human nature is concerned. And he is God, the one who rules over everything and is worthy of eternal praise! Amen.
- Paul knows the truth that will set them free.
- He knows the fruit that comes from believing.
- He knows that Jesus is God and Savior.
- He knows Jesus is the cure.
- He is willing to sacrifice everything for the salvation of others.
Questions for you…
- Do you believe? Have you made Jesus Lord?
- How much do you care for those who have not?
- How often are you burdened for those you know?
- What would you sacrifice for others to be cured?
