Default Nature: We are not born knowing how to pray? We are born knowing how to beg.
Praying is about knowing God, begging is about me.
Once Jesus was in a certain place praying. As he finished, one of his disciples came to him and said, “Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples.” Luke 11:1
Jesus taught us the basics of prayer.
Paul teaches the importance of meditation.
“Practicing the presence of God” brings in the power of the Holy Spirit praying on your behalf.
Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Eph 6:18
In our weakness we don’t know what God wants us to pray.
26 And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words.
God wants what is best for us. To be in His will.
Jesus, Looking up to heaven, he sighed (groaned) and said, “Ephphatha,” which means, “Be opened!” Mark 7:34
Our sin-caused suffering is painful for God.
Then Jesus wept. John 11:35
27 And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads (groans) for us believers in harmony with God’s own will.
The Holy Spirit prays according to God’s will.
There is a path before each person that seems right, but it ends in death. Pro 14:12
God makes the best promise ever, to make good and bad things good for believers.
28 And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.
We KNOW but we don’t always know. Trust the promise that God knows what is good.
And I want you to know, my dear brothers and sisters,that everything that has happened to me here has helped to spread the Good News. Phil 1:12
The Plan: Believer’s good and God’s glory.
29 For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son, so that his Son would be the first born among many brothers and sisters.
