Courage is not courage if there is no fear.

Faith is not faith if you can do it without God.

“Don’t be ridiculous!” Saul replied. “There’s no way you can fight this Philistine and possibly win! You’re only a boy, and he’s been a man of war since his youth.” 1 Sam 17:33

The Lord who rescued me from the claws of the lion and the bear will rescue me from this Philistine!” 1 Sam 17:37

 Fear + Faith + Obedience  = Courage

Courage + More Faith + Obedience = More Courage

They were all terrified when they saw him.  But Jesus spoke to them at once. “Don’t be afraid,” he said. “Take courage! I am here!  Mark 6:50 NLT

… Be of good cheer … KJV

Joy is the product of courageous faith.

David said, “This is the Lord’s battle, and he will give you to us!” 1 Sam  17:37

…When the Philistines saw that their champion was dead, they turned and ran. 52 Then the men of Israel and Judah gave a great shout of triumph and rushed after the Philistines, chasing them… 1 Sam 17:51-52

 Parents … Courage is contagious.

 Contagious Courage

 1)     Love God, spouse, kids and others.  It takes courage to do real love.

Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance. 1 Cor 13:4-7

Kids will feel most confident when parents love each other.

 2)     Be authentic and consistent.

38 His host was amazed to see that he sat down to eat without first performing the hand-washing ceremony required by Jewish custom. 39 Then the Lord said to him, “You Pharisees are so careful to clean the outside of the cup and the dish, but inside you are filthy—full of greed and wickedness! 40 Fools! Didn’t God make the inside as well as the outside? 41 So clean the inside by giving gifts to the poor, and you will be clean all over.   Luke 11:38-41

So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up. Gal 6:9

 3)     Model dealing with pain in faith.

Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.  James 1:2-4

 4)     Teach and attitude of gratitude.

Always be joyful. 17 Never stop praying. 18 Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.   1 Thes 5:16-18
