 ____You ____ Job ___  Spouse  ____ God  ___ Kids

How would your spouse or kids say you rank priorities?

 1)     God

Goal: Spiritual maturity (more like Christ)

God said; “You must not have any other god but me.” Ex 20:3

Don’t get distracted by “gods”.. Idolatry

The seeds that fell among the thorns represent those who hear the message, but all too quickly the message is crowded out by the cares and riches and pleasures of this life. And so they never grow into maturity. Luke 4:18

13 This will continue until we all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God’s Son that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ.

14 Then we will no longer be immature like children. We won’t be tossed and blown about by every wind of new teaching. We will not be influenced when people try to trick us with lies so clever they sound like the truth.  Eph 4:13-14

  2)    Spouse

Goal: To honor God and encourage spouse through submission.

And further, submit to one another out of reverence for Christ. Eph 5:21

Then, even if some refuse to obey the Good News, your godly lives will speak to them without any words. They will be won over by observing your pure and reverent lives. 1 Peter 3:1-2

“‘This explains why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one.’ Since they are no longer two but one, let no one split apart what God has joined together.”  Matt 19:5-6

So again I say, each man must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband. Eph 5:33

 3)     Kids

Goal: To honor God and raise our kids to be successful adults and love God.

 Raise them as God’s child.

Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger by the way you treat them. Rather, bring them up with the discipline and instruction that comes from the Lord.  Eph 6:4

And you must commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these commands that I am giving you today. Repeat them again and again to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up. Tie them to your hands and wear them on your forehead as reminders. Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates. Deut 6:6-9

 4)     Job

Goal:  Honor God as your Lord and employer.

Slaves, obey your earthly masters in everything you do. Try to please them all the time, not just when they are watching you. Serve them sincerely because of your reverent fear of the Lord. 23 Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. Col 3:22-23
