Justification by Faith is the act of God whereby He declares the believing sinner righteous in Christ on the basis of the finished work of Christ on the cross.
Justification is an act of God and Sanctification is a process by which God makes man more and more like Christ.
1) The goal of man is God’s approval.
a) We can never earn God’s approval. Sin is falling short or missing the mark. The mark is perfection.
b) We can never boast about our salvation.
God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. 9 Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. Eph 2:8-9
2) God makes the way through the gift of Jesus.
a) The law won’t save us. Vs 21
b) We are made right through faith. Vs 22a
c) The gift is offered to all. Vs 22b-23
d) By grace and with mercy. Vs 24
e) It’s not free. God pays a great cost. Vs 24b-25
f) God is perfectly just. Vs 25a-26
g) We are made not guilty. Jesus fulfills the Law. Vs 27-31
For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited from your ancestors. And the ransom he paid was not mere gold or silver. 19 It was the precious blood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God. 1 Peter 1:18-19
3) Man has to accept the gift by faith.
If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved. 13 For “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”Romans 9:9,10,13
Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me. John 14:6
