Who do you know that has spiritual wisdom?  Who do you know that seems to have a direct connection to God?  Who do you think of when you think of someone who has the fruit of spiritual wisdom in his or her life?

the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Gal 5:22-23

Do you know anyone that seems to follow God naturally?  This person seems to always think God first, has a clear understanding of right and wrong, and without hesitation seems to choose right .. Or is it that he chooses wise choices.

Joyful is the person who finds wisdom, the one who gains understanding. Prov 3:13

You ever wonder how to get this wisdom?  You have read the Bible many times, you have listened to preachers preach for years, yet wisdom and the fruit of wisdom seems to elude you.  You seem to make wrong choices over and over again.  You wonder, I have been a Christian for years and the “peace that passes all understanding” has never been yours to enjoy.

Christianity seems to be really hard, and as you get older, it doesn’t seem to be any easier.

The problem my friend …. Is lack of wisdom.  Look at this verse…

Using a dull ax requires great strength, so sharpen the blade.  That’s the value of wisdom;  it helps you succeed. Ecc 10:10

Most Christians pray, most Christians do a certain amount of Bible Study, most Christians attend a certain amount of church, some lots of church … but … Where is the peace?

I have met many Christians over the years who call themselves Christians, but they have kind of given up on going through the motions or even paying much attention to their faith unless they are in a situation where they feel they really need God’s help so they pray.

Trying to walk the walk and talk the talk of Christianity without wisdom is like using a dull ax.  It takes a lot of strength and then is not very effective for getting the job done.

How do you obtain this wisdom?  There is only one way my friend.  Obedience.  You can study and go through the religious motions all you want, but if your are not obedient to God you will fail in obtaining the wisdom you need to walk and grow in your faith.  And the harder it is to obey, the more wisdom you will receive by obeying, and the more hope you will gain.

Head knowledge becomes wisdom when it becomes experience gained through obedience?

It is a promise of God that if you ask … He will give wisdom …

If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you.  James 1:5

Wisdom is a promise of God and with all promises, there is a premise …. Obedience…

when troubles come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.  James 1:2-4

How are you doing in the wisdom department?

There is an old Hymn that goes;

Trust and obey, for there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.

How are you doing in the obedience department?  I am not asking how much you pray, go to church, or read your Bible?  How are you doing being obedient in every area of your life?
