Goal of Christ-follower from rebirth:  Christ-likeness….

God uses pain to form us.

Learn to manage and process pain though God’s eyes.  (Ask, Lord what am I to learn in this)

And we know that God causes everything to work togetherfor the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. Rom 8:28

 1)    All Christians will experience pain.

Then Jesus wept. 36 The people who were standing nearby said, “See how much he loved him!”  John 11:35-36

 2)    Some but not all pain is discipline.

  •  Trials are to mature you or direct you.

Dear friends, don’t be surprised at the fiery trials you are going through, as if something strange were happening to you. 1 Pet 4:12

  •  Consequences of our bad choices.
  • A loving Father disciplines.

And have you forgotten the encouraging words God spoke to you as his children? He said, My child, don’t make light of the Lord’s discipline, and don’t give up when he corrects you.  Hebrews 12:5

 3)     Avoid bad choices that lead to pain.

 4)    Pain can lead to spiritual growth.

Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing. James 1:2-4

  •  Pain Warns
  • Pain Teaches
  • Pain strengthens
  • Pain helps you remember
  • Pain gives you empathy with others

  5)     God knows the feeling by choice.

Even though Jesus was God’s Son, he learned obedience from the things he suffered. In this way, God qualified him as a perfect High Priest, and he became the source of eternal salvation for all those who obey him.  Heb 5:8-9

 6)     God will comfort you.

All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us. For the more we suffer for Christ, the more God will shower us with his comfort through Christ. Even when we are weighed down with troubles, it is for your comfort and salvation! For when we ourselves are comforted, we will certainly comfort you. Then you can patiently endure the same things we suffer. We are confident that as you share in our sufferings, you will also share in the comfort God gives us.  2 Cor 1:3-7

 7)     One day there will be no pain.

He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever.”  Rev 21:4
