Commitment Sunday Was Awesome – Last Sunday at LCC was an incredible day of changed lives, generosity, and God’s blessings. It was so exciting to baptize Jimmy P. He is a great example of a new life in Christ. After making Jesus Lord of his life a couple of years ago he has become a new man who is changing to be more like Jesus every day. Jesus has truly changed him and I love to hear Jimmy talk about the joy following Jesus brings into his life and his stories of sharing his faith with his friends.
I know what you are dying to know… What is the result of the Commitment Sunday giving to the new building? I am glad you asked. On a very short notice of our $100,000.00 goal, 12 days, the family of LCC showed incredible faith and generosity. It was awesome watching people come to the front, some in tears of joy, to drop their offerings in the bucket and reup as part of the LCC family. LCC is not a church full of materially rich people, but we are a generous people. We are God’s love with skin, we are followers of Jesus, and it shows in your heart felt sacrificial giving.
In the last week we collected an offering of over $30,000.00 and we have pledges toward $10,000.00 more. We are more than a third of the way to our goal that we will need by the middle of December. And you can tell by looking at the pledge cards that some major prayer went into upping the level of our monthly giving toward the proposed budget of the coming year. Some have said, “I gave what I could now and more is coming.”
God blesses generosity. Generosity is not about how much money, it is about how much heart. Dear LCCers that stepped out in faith and gave from the heart, you will be blessed. We have been focusing on Malachi 3:10 on tithing for the last couple of months where God says to “test me” and I will bless you for the test. Well here is a blessing promised by Jesus….
Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full—pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back. Luke 6:38
God will bless your generosity. It’s a promise received from a test given. Its a promise kept when the premise is obeyed.
If you are a friend of LCC and you would like to give toward our new building. You can give online at www.lifeconnectionchurch.org. It will be greatly appreciated by the LCC family and you will be blessed according to God’s promises and our prayers for your generosity.
We also have an account with Morgan Stanley – Smith Barney if you would like to donate stocks or bonds.
Please continue to pray. We will reach our goal. God is going to bless our faithfulness….
LCC is God’s love with skin inside and outside the church building.
If you are thinking about inviting a friend to LCC and you are not sure if that person will feel accepted or not, you don’t know the heart of LCC. We are God’s love with skin. Jesus loved and accepted all people and we are His love with skin. We do what we do and make the choices we make on Sunday to make anyone feel as welcomed as possible. We don’t want to be what blocks them from coming to Jesus. There are many people in the world who do not like Christians, and Christians have done enough mean things to deserve that judgment. At LCC we work hard to be love.
James wrote, Yes indeed, it is good when you obey the royal law as found in the Scriptures: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” 9 But if you favor some people over others, you are committing a sin. You are guilty of breaking the law. James 2:8
All people are welcome at LCC. Bring your friends. Their past does not matter. We want to introduce them to a loving God who has great plans for their future as a new person.
And we will be serving with www.6stones.org tomorrow and Saturday on their Community Powered Revitalization project. Come serve with us. You can sign up on their website.
I heard a song this morning that prompted me to refocus on what is most important.
I woke up with a song in my head by Chris Rice. When I brought up my Facebook page this morning a person I have not seen in years had posted the song on her FB page. Please take a couple of minutes to watch this video with song and lyrics. You might get a tissue first. It will bring it all back into perspective.
