People have said to me before, “If God really loves us, then when we become Christians, why doesn’t He just take us to heaven?  If Heaven is such a better place, then why are we still here?”

I might answer, “What if God had taken the guy that told you about Christ to Heaven when he became a Christian?”

Jesus has a plan, plan A and there is no plan B.  His plan is to use us to bring people to Him.

The Apostle Paul wrote,

For “Anyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”   14 But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them? 15 And how will anyone go and tell them without being sent? That is what the Scriptures mean when they say, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”   Rom 10:13-15 NLT

We are the tellers.  We are to live out our faith and tell others.  If you are a Christian, think how grateful you are for the person God used to tell you.  And it’s not like you are a salesman for Jesus needing to make you quota.  The Holy Spirit prompts and pulls people toward God and you get to tell how He has changed you. You live out the Good News and then you get to tell others.

As you go about telling, Jesus is praying for you to be successful and protected

Before Jesus gave up His life so we can live He had a prayer to the Father that was recorded so we would know.

He prayed, “Now I am coming to you. I told them many things while I was with them in this world so they would be filled with my joy. John 17:13

He gave His followers the Good News of how we can live for God and with God and spend eternity with Him in Heaven.  He knew that since we were reborn into His family, the world is not going to like us.  We are from a different world now.  (John 17:14

So He prayed, I’m not asking you to take them out of the world, but to keep them safe from the evil one. John 17:15

We know from the rest of the NT that our job as believers is to worship God in all we do and to tell others the Good News.  I know, with all the negativity turned towards Christians, it seems to be getting harder and harder to tell people about Him.

Jesus continued His prayer, “Just as you sent me into the world, I am sending them into the world.” John 17:18

So what’s next?

  1. Live a life of faith so you have something to tell.  A real life of faith is way more fun to tell about then the movie you saw last night.
  2. Remember that as you are going about doing “Plan A” you are being prayed for by the Son of God Himself.

How cool is that?
