Fact of life: Stuff Happens
Dear friends, don’t be surprised at the fiery trials you are going through, as if something strange were happening to you. 13 Instead, be very glad—for these trials make you partners with Christ in his suffering, so that you will have the wonderful joy of seeing his glory when it is revealed to all the world. 1 Peter 4:12-13
What separates the Christ-follower from the unbeliever?
The way one responds to stuff — Past, Present, Future
Worry comes from knowing the stuff from the past and an unhealthy concern for what might occur in the future and trying to control future stuff.
Fact of life: You cannot control your future.
Healthy = plan Unhealthy = worry
We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps. Prov 16:10
Prayerfully plan and then go with the flow.
“That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing? Matt 6:25
Jesus said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.” John 8:12
Fact of life: God can and does provide. (What’s best)
“So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ 32 These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. 33 Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. Matt 6:31-33
So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask him. Matt 7:11
Fact of life: Worry is a form of pride.
Pride leads to disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom. Prov 11:2
