Weekly Email to Life Connection Church in Euless, Tx
I am really excited about the next seven weeks in the life of Life Connection Church and beyond. I remember the verse that God used to get me pumped about becoming a pastor was Acts 2:427-47. It is a picture of the Christian Church and how the power of unity in community is what God uses to grow us individually in the Lord and corporately as Christ’s church.
42 All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals (including the Lord’s Supper), and to prayer. 43 A deep sense of awe came over them all, and the apostles performed many miraculous signs and wonders. 44 And all the believers met together in one place and shared everything they had. 45 They sold their property and possessions and shared the money with those in need. 46 They worshiped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lord’s Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity—47 all the while praising God and enjoying the goodwill of all the people. And each day the Lord added to their fellowship those who were being saved.
I especially love the fact that just because the church was being the church, people were coming to know Jesus daily. For years, as a counselor, I noticed that when church people struggled with life they would pull out of community with God and the church. That is exactly what the devil wants because he knows that God created us to be in community. We, as humans and God’s children, are at our best when we are part of community. We saw in Luke a couple of weeks ago that Jesus said that disunity destroys a kingdom.
Psalm 133:1 says, “How good it is when we are “One“. For the next seven weeks this will be our theme. We will be working on making the community of faith, we call Life Connection Church, a stronger community. We will start off with pulling the two services into one. Beginning this Sunday, we will have one service at 10:15 am. It will be a chance to meet new people, and enjoy all of LCC as community on Sunday morning. We are at the size now where one service is possible so we will do it for a short period of time.
We are encouraging
- Meeting the rest of the family
- New Life Groups to be formed
- Life Groups to worship together
- Find someone to go to breakfast with before church or lunch after.
- Inviting friends and family to come and be part of the LCC community
- Praying and looking forward as we go and grow forward as a church in faith.
- Healing to come from closer relationships with Christ-followers.
- And we will be looking at other opportunities to build unity.
