This is my weekly enote to friends and family of Life Connection Church in Euless, TX
Dear Friends,
I would like to start this note with a Thank You for your faithfulness. Most churches experience some drops in attendance and giving in the summer. That normally goes with the church territory and you plan for that in your budget. This year is a little different than usual. Because of the economy, most churches, including LCC are down already in their giving for the year so the normal float planned for the summer is not there. Many of you have been giving online even when you are not making it to church on Sunday. Thanks so much. This week for sure the giving online was a life saver, or maybe the term is ministry saver. If you did not know, you can give online at http://www.lifeconnectionchurch.org/. There is an LCC Online Giving Icon in the lower left-hand corner…. Thanks again for your generosity. God promises He will bless your faithfulness.
I hope this note finds you well……I was really waiting on the rain last night and it did not come our way. I know some people in our area that got a few drops. We could use it. So…Pray for rain…..And from what I have seen on the news, pray for rain in South Texas. They are still experiencing a serious drought. It is awesome living in Texas….There aren’t many places where you can say on a July day, “Thank God it is only going to be in the 90s today.” Serious cool front…Thank you God.
I am still loving teaching through the Gospel of Luke. I have enjoyed the emails and the conversations about Jesus that have come up from this study. If you have missed any of the teaching you can listen to them online or download them by clicking here. There is also an audio page to this blog and I will be updating the teaching on it over the next few days. It has been awesome looking at the life of Jesus as reported by a gentile just like you and me. As we saw last week, Luke reports over and over again how much time Jesus spent in prayer. In chapter eleven, Luke reports on the very personal time Jesus had with his disciples teaching them that prayer is where He gets his power from God and how we can have that same connection by changing our prayers from self-centered to God-centered.
As we continue in Ch 11 this week, Jesus has just finished teaching the disciples how to pray with more power and boom, spiritual warfare shows itself in the flesh. A demon possessed man shows up and in front of a bunch of witnesses Jesus shows His power. And guess what? The people see God in action and they don’t believe. What is up with that?
Have you ever wondered as a believer, why unbeliever’s don’t believe? Or I love asking the question this way, Do you ever wonder how people who don’t believe keep up their faith in disbelief??? How can people continue to see things that can really only be explained by the presence of God, and not believe?
The apostle Paul wrote: Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God. Rom 1:20
This week we will look at what Jesus says about belief and disbelief. Let me give you a hint: Jesus says there is no middle ground. You are either with Him or against Him. Think about it. Most people try to choose middle ground. Even believers. Jesus says, “You Are Either for or Against”. This Sunday at LCC.
Hope to see you there.
