e-note to LCC
Dear Friends,
I know there is a lot going on this time of year between kids sports, school ending, graduations happening, vacations coming, weddings planning, and summer cranking up. I hope you are taking time to chill and not getting too stressed over the details. A friend of mine passed from this world into the presence of our Lord on Wednesday. I just saw him a couple of months ago and he seemed to be getting better. All of the sudden he took a turn for the worse and now I won’t see him again till heaven. Jeff was an encourager. He was one of those guys who always made you feel good about being around him, even when he was sick. He was a good dad and husband and I know from several of our conversations that he loved the Lord Jesus and he showed up in heaven on Wednesday morning. Jeff, at 57, left way to early for us and he will be remembered fondly by many. I have prayed several times for his family since Wednesday and I would appreciate you lifting up his wife of 27 years Nita, and his two great kids Zachrey and Ashley. Zach is in college and Ashley will be graduating from GHS next weekend. Here is a link to Jeff’s obituary.
Life is “oh” so short. Live every minute of it in the fullness that Jesus intends for us to live. (John 10:10)
This Sunday will be a special day at LCC. Not only will we be celebrating our first of the month time of communion, but we will also be recognizing graduates who are part of the LCC family. The future is bright. We remember through communion that we will be with Jesus in heaven one day and we will celebrate and pray support for our graduates who are transitioning into a new and exciting time of their lives.
Besides worship through song, communion, and graduation, I will continue teaching from the Gospel of Luke this Sunday. We will be looking at a passage in Chapter one this week that is normally taught around Christmas time and is sung and recited or chanted in churches all over the world. It is the Gospel before the Gospel and sung by Mary the mother of Jesus. It is traditionally called “The Magnificat” because that is its first word in Latin (My soul magnifies the Lord). This passage of scripture has been called the “most revolutionary’ document in the world and it is sung or prophesied by a 12-14 year old girl with great excitement and celebration as a model of how we should magnify our Lord in our very souls.
Most people who do not go to church say they would go if invited by a friend. Invite someone to church. Over 70% of Tarrant County does not go to church on a regular basis or at all. Who do you know that needs to know? Surveys tell us that 82% of people who don’t go to church are waiting on someone to ask them to come with them.
If you are part of the LCC family or are looking for a church to belong, I hope to see you Sunday. God’s Word is powerful and life changing. Bring a friend.
Love God Love People
